PESTICIDE MANAGEMENT BILL

The Pesticides Management Bill, 2026 was drafted by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare to align with current needs and the Jan Vishwas Act. The draft was circulated to all ministries, departments and State/UT governments on 30 December 2025 for comments, and was placed in the public domain on 7 January 2026 inviting feedback from the general public and stakeholders such as pesticide manufacturers, dealers, farmers and NGOs. Numerous suggestions were received from states, ministries, industry bodies and civil society on various aspects of pesticide management and regulation, including data protection. The Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, conveyed this information in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.
