India's Index of industrial production records growth of 7.3% in June 2026

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation released the Quick Estimate of the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) for June 2026, showing a 7.3 % year‑on‑year increase – up from 5.1 % in May 2026. Sector‑wise growth rates were 1.0 % for Mining & Quarrying, 7.8 % for Manufacturing, 10.6 % for Electricity & Gas Supply and 6.1 % for Water Supply, Sewerage & Waste Management. Within Manufacturing, 19 of 23 NIC‑2‑digit groups posted positive growth; the leading contributors were Manufacture of electrical equipment (34.0 %), motor vehicles, trailers and semi‑trailers (17.5 %) and food products (10.8 %). Use‑Based Classification indicated strong gains in Capital Goods (14.2 %) and Intermediate Goods (9.3 %). The Quick Estimates were compiled at weighted response rates of 86.7 % (June) and 93.1 % (May).
