NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL VISION
The Ministry of Home Affairs released the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026‑2029) on 26 June 2026 to tackle illicit drug trafficking and abuse. The document outlines four focus areas – Enforcement (Intelligence & Operations), Precursors & Synthetic Drugs Control, Demand & Harm Reduction, and Capacity Building & Coordination – and assigns specific action points and timelines to central ministries, agencies, and State/UT governments. It calls for States and districts to prepare a three‑year road‑map aligned with the national framework, strengthens institutions such as Anti‑Narcotics Task Forces, forensic labs, the NCB and the Narco‑Coordination Centre, and expands demand‑reduction initiatives through the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, including awareness campaigns, training, drug‑free campuses, and early‑identification mechanisms. The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, conveyed these details in a Lok Sabha reply.
