The Government of India has approved the National Forensic Infrastructure Enhancement Scheme (NFIES) with a total outlay of ₹2,254.43 crore for FY 2024‑25 to 2028‑29. Of this, ₹1,309.13 crore is earmarked for setting up nine campuses of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and ₹860.3 crore for establishing seven Central Forensic Science Laboratories (CFSLs). Funds of ₹119.09 crore have already been released and utilized for the campuses and labs.
