BLUE ECONOMY PROJECTS IN ANDHRA PRADESH
The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, has implemented the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in Andhra Pradesh since 2020‑21. Under the scheme, proposals approved for the state total Rs 2,328.89 crore, with a central share of Rs 681.38 crore and Rs 445.05 crore released to date. Approved infrastructure includes five fish‑feed plants, 16 cold‑storage/ice plants, six modern fish‑landing centres, three modern fishing harbours, modernization of the Vishakhapatnam harbour, one integrated Aqua Park, 15 Climate‑Resilient Coastal Fishermen Villages and one Fish Brood Bank. The government has also organised seafood exporters’ meetings in 2026 to address market diversification and trade challenges. India’s seafood exports reached a record 19.72 lakh mt worth ₹73,890.46 crore (US$ 8.46 bn) in FY 2025‑26.
