NATIONAL TECHNICAL TEXTILES MISSION
The Ministry of Textiles launched the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) in 2020 to strengthen the technical textiles sector. Under Component‑II (Promotion and Market Development), the ministry has organised or participated in 47 national/international conferences. FY 2025‑26 data show a net trade surplus of Rs 3,420.20 crore, with exports of Rs 29,217.60 crore and imports of Rs 25,797.40 crore. NTTM aims to promote indigenous development and commercialisation of value‑added products such as agro‑textiles, geo‑textiles, medical, industrial, protective and sportech textiles, and to create awareness through workshops and skill‑development programmes. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles, covering technical textiles, seeks to address value‑chain gaps, boost capacity, technology adoption and export competitiveness.
