Ministry of Civil Aviation inaugurates Hub & Spoke International Flight Operations from Amritsar

The Ministry of Civil Aviation inaugurated Hub & Spoke International Flight Operations from Amritsar on 28 July 2026, making Amritsar the second spoke airport under India’s International Aviation Hub Strategy. The model links Amritsar to Delhi as a hub, enabling passengers to check‑in, clear immigration and customs at Amritsar and then transfer at Delhi without repeat formalities. The Ministry’s studies project the hub‑spoke system could create about 0.4 million jobs and add USD 30 billion to the economy by 2030, rising to 16 million jobs and USD 1.4 trillion by 2047. The initiative aims to boost tourism, trade, investment and regional development while enhancing India’s aviation sovereignty.
