Heritage Conservation Works Intensified in Nashik Ahead of ‘Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027 ’

The Ministry of Culture reports accelerated conservation, restoration and development activities at heritage temples and archaeological monuments in Nashik district ahead of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela 2027. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is handling 4 ongoing and 12 proposed projects at sites such as Trimbakeshwar Temple, Pandavlena Caves and Ankai Caves, while the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, Maharashtra, is working on 6 unprotected structures in Nashik and 8 in Trimbakeshwar, plus the State‑protected Kushavart Kund. Over the past five years, ASI has completed more than 20 projects, adding visitor amenities like multilingual boards, sanitation facilities and CCTV. The Maharashtra State Archaeology Department is implementing 16 projects worth ₹39.51 crore, and no delays or fund shortages have been reported.
