Dr Mansukh Mandaviya felicitates CWG 2026 bronze medal-winner powerlifter Jhandu Kumar

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports reported that Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya felicitated para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar, who won a bronze medal in the men’s heavyweight category (190 kg) at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. The minister presented a cash award of INR 10 lakh to the athlete, who hails from Nalanda district, Bihar. Jhandu Kumar, a former vegetable seller and e‑rickshaw driver, had previously secured silver and gold medals at the Khelo India Para Games 2024 and 2025. He expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister’s social‑media congratulation and indicated his aim to compete at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Japan.
