Department of Commerce Reviews Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) Tobacco Market Situation in Andhra Pradesh

On 25 July 2026 a Department of Commerce team, led by Additional Secretary Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, visited Andhra Pradesh to review the market situation of Flue‑Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco. The delegation met the Chief Minister, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, alongside the Chairman and Executive Director of the Tobacco Board, discussing measures to protect FCV growers and ensure sector stability. They inspected the Tobacco Board’s auction platform at Vellampalli, noting the transparent and orderly conduct of auctions, and interacted directly with growers to gather feedback. The Additional Secretary assured that the Government, in coordination with the state government and the Tobacco Board, is closely monitoring the market and examining appropriate safeguards for farmers.
