Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister inaugurates new state-of-the-art building of Income Tax Department 'Aayakar Sindhu' at Nariman Point, Mumbai

On 26 July 2026, Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated ‘Aayakar Sindhu’, a modern 13‑storey, ~1 lakh sq ft office complex of the Income Tax Department at Nariman Point, Mumbai. Built by the Central Public Works Department, the facility includes secure record‑management rooms, an Aayakar Seva Kendra, conference and training spaces, a library, canteen, recreation area and guest‑house. The Minister highlighted the building’s role in mobilising tax revenues, urged officers to serve with empathy and integrity, and affirmed the government’s commitment to improving office infrastructure and residential accommodation for tax officials in metropolitan areas. CBDT Chairman Shri Ravi Agrawal and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
