Nandyal District Strengthens Water Conservation Infrastructure and Storage Capacity under Catch the Rain Campaign

The Ministry of Jal Shakti’s Catch the Rain Campaign (4 July–4 August 2026) is being executed in Nandyal District, Andhra Pradesh. Scientific planning across all 489 Gram Panchayats led to the identification, sanction and 100 % grounding of 2,103 water‑conservation works. Under the programme, 2,691 km of feeder and supply channels have been desilted, 251 minor irrigation tanks are being restored (225 completed), and the district’s network of 22,221 farm ponds, 2,221 check dams and 202 percolation tanks has been strengthened. Technical estimates indicate an added 3.27 TMC of tank storage and 0.03 TMC from newly created structures, enhancing rainwater capture, groundwater recharge and long‑term water security.
