BUCHAREST UNIVERSTY OF ECONOMIC STUDIES CONFERS HONORARY DOCTORATE ON THE PRESIDENT

On 24 July 2026, the Bucharest University of Economic Studies conferred an Honorary Doctorate on President Droupadi Murmu in Bucharest, Romania. In her acceptance speech, the President highlighted education as a transformative force, urged deeper Indo‑Romanian academic cooperation through joint research and faculty‑student exchanges, and announced a doubling of ITEC training slots for Romania. She linked the partnership to shared democratic values and cited historical cultural ties. The university, established in 1913, is Romania’s premier institution for economics, business and public administration, and the Doctor Honoris Causa is its highest academic honour.
