Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme

The Start‑up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), launched in 2016 as a sub‑scheme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana‑National Rural Livelihoods Mission, supports non‑farm enterprises through training, finance, mentoring and community‑led institutional support. By 30 June 2026, it had assisted 4.32 lakh rural enterprises, with 86 % of entrepreneurs belonging to SC, ST, minority or OBC groups and 75 % of enterprises owned or managed by women. The government released a cumulative central share of ₹942.09 crore up to February 2026, a 738 % increase over the ₹112.39 crore released between 2016 and Jan 2018. A Quality Council of India mid‑term evaluation reported that 99 % of SVEP enterprises were profitable, contributing 57 % of household income, with average monthly revenue of ₹39 000 and 96 % of entrepreneurs reporting higher savings.
