EPFO Launches VISHWAS, 2026 and AMNESTY, 2026 to resolve legacy cases and promote voluntary compliance
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, has launched two one‑time schemes – VISHWAS, 2026 and AMNESTY, 2026 – effective from 29 June 2026 for a six‑month period. VISHWAS, 2026 offers employers a single chance to settle disputes related to damages and penalties under the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952 and the Code on Social Security, 2020, with reduced damage rates for defaults before 14 June 2024, excluding cases involving fraud. AMNESTY, 2026 regularises legacy Provident Fund trusts lacking formal exemption, withdrawing pending proceedings on dues, damages and interest upon compliance. Applications are to be filed online via the EPFO Employer Portal, and EPFO Regional Office, Thane has set up help desks for assistance.
