India Successfully Hosts 3rd BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction; BRICS Joint Statement Adopted to Advance Global Disaster Resilience

Under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, the National Disaster Management Authority hosted the 3rd BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction in New Delhi on 24 July 2026. Chaired by Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Nityanand Rai, the meeting brought together ministers and heads of delegation from the five BRICS countries. It concluded with the unanimous adoption of a BRICS Joint Statement reaffirming commitment to the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Work Plan (2025‑2028) and to deepen cooperation in science and technology, early‑warning systems, resilient infrastructure, nature‑based solutions and community resilience. Six flagship knowledge products were launched, and a high‑level policy dialogue and round‑table discussed climate‑smart infrastructure, financing and implementation pathways.
