Income Tax Department, Mumbai celebrates 167th Income Tax Day in Mumbai

On 24 July 2026, the Income Tax Department, Mumbai marked its 167th Income Tax Day at Kautilya Bhawan, BKC, Mumbai. The event was attended by Maharashtra Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma as Chief Guest and actor Shri Vicky Kaushal as Special Guest. Principal Chief Commissioner Shri Alok Kumar highlighted the department’s shift to a modern, technology‑driven, taxpayer‑centric model, citing digital initiatives such as pre‑filled returns, AI‑based risk assessment, faceless services and faster refunds. He linked direct taxes to infrastructure, national security and social welfare, and reiterated the philosophy of “Transparent Taxation: Honouring the Honest.”
