PROGRESS OF NATURAL FARMING UNDER THE NATIONAL MISSION FOR NATURAL FARMING

The Union Cabinet approved the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) on 25 November 2024 as a centrally‑sponsored scheme to promote chemical‑free, livestock‑integrated natural farming rooted in Indian traditional knowledge. Under the Mission, 527 Krishi Vigyan Kendras, 76 Agriculture Universities, 194 Local Natural Farming Institutes and 18 Centres of Natural Farming Institutes have been identified for cluster‑level implementation, and 33,257 Krishi Sakhis/Community Resource Persons have been trained. The scheme has formed 18,893 clusters, enrolled 2,092,657 farmers and brought 1,032,116.452 hectares under natural farming across all States/UTs. The information was provided by the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
