BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) under the Chairship of Minister of State Shri Nityanand Rai, to be held in New Delhi tomorrow

Under India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, the National Disaster Management Authority will host the BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction on 24 July 2026 in New Delhi. The meeting will be chaired by Minister of State (Home) Shri Nityanand Rai and will involve Ministers and Heads of Delegations from ten BRICS member countries. It builds on the Udaipur Declaration (2016) and the Kazan Declaration (2024) that created the BRICS Disaster Risk Reduction Group and its Work Plan (2025‑2028). The agenda includes a High‑Level Policy Dialogue on climate‑smart infrastructure, a Ministerial Roundtable to accelerate the Work Plan, and the adoption of a joint BRICS statement on disaster risk reduction.
