TRAI Assesses Mobile Network Quality across South Tripura District and adjoining areas in the State of Tripura under North East LSA
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released results of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) carried out from 13‑16 May 2026 across South Tripura district and adjoining areas. The test measured key Quality of Service parameters – coverage gap, call drop rate, call‑silence instances, and data download/upload throughput – for four telecom service providers (Airtel, BSNL, RJIL and VIL) on 2G‑5G networks. Coverage gaps ranged from 20.2 % (Airtel) to 41.5 % (VIL). Dropped‑call ratios were 4.1 % (Airtel) to 16.2 % (VIL). Average download speeds were 88.67 Mbps (Airtel), 46.11 Mbps (RJIL), 35.19 Mbps (VIL) and 10.64 Mbps (BSNL); upload speeds were 17.32 Mbps (Airtel), 6.84 Mbps (VIL), 3.83 Mbps (RJIL) and 3.25 Mbps (BSNL). The findings have been shared with the providers for corrective action and are available on the TRAI website.
