TRAI Assesses Mobile Network Quality Across Alipurduar and Cooch Behar Districts and adjoining areas in the State of West Bengal under West Bengal LSA
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released results of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted from 9‑13 June 2026 across Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts (West Bengal LSA). The test measured key Quality of Service parameters – coverage gap, call drop rate, call‑silence instances, and data download/upload throughput – for four telecom service providers (Airtel, BSNL, RJIL, VIL) on 2G‑5G networks. Coverage gaps were highest for BSNL (21,699 samples) and VIL (10,964), while Airtel recorded zero dropped calls. Average download speeds ranged from 11.81 Mbps (BSNL) to 154.29 Mbps (RJIL); average upload speeds ranged from 5.23 Mbps (BSNL) to 18.05 Mbps (Airtel). The findings are posted on the TRAI website for consumer information and to prompt service improvement.
