Measures Taken to Tackle Cyber Frauds

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched ASTR, an AI‑driven big‑data analytics tool that flags suspicious mobile connections; by 15 July 2026, over 88 lakh connections were disconnected after failing reverification. Through the Chakshu facility of Sanchar Saathi, citizens reported 11.18 lakh suspected fraud communications, leading to the disconnection of 50.90 lakh mobile connections. DoT also created the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) for two‑way information sharing with stakeholders such as the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs. SEBI has issued advisories for its regulated entities to join DIP, and more than 50 entities have been onboarded. The Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, disclosed these measures in a Rajya Sabha reply.
