PARLIAMENT QUESTION: IMPLEMENTATION OF MISSION MAUSAM

The Mission Mausam, launched by the Prime Minister on 14 January 2025, aims to make India a weather‑ready and climate‑smart nation by strengthening Earth‑system observations and early‑warning services. Under the programme, the observational network is being expanded with additional Doppler weather radars (C‑Band, X‑Band, S‑Band), wind profilers, microwave radiometers and GPS radiosonde stations. High‑resolution modelling systems such as the Global Forecast System, Mithuna, and the 6 km New Bharat Forecasting System (BharatFS) are operational, supported by enhanced high‑performance computing (Arunika and Arka). The Ministry of Earth Sciences and IMD have also rolled out citizen‑centric platforms like Mausamgram, KALP, and the Panchayat Mausam Seva Portal, and conducted over 7,300 farmer awareness programmes to improve disaster preparedness and climate‑resilient agriculture.
