Bharat 6G Alliance and Spectrum Roadmap for 6G in India

The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA), an industry‑academia society, grew to 90 members by 15 July 2026 and has set up seven working groups covering 6G technologies, spectrum, applications, devices, green aspects and outreach. Its spectrum working group submitted a report titled “Spectrum Roadmap for 6G in India”, and the Department of Telecommunications released a corresponding roadmap online. A three‑year project funded by the Telecom Technology Development Fund under Digital Bharat Nidhi will create a 6G Terahertz testbed at SAMEER, Kolkata, in partnership with IIT Madras, IIT Guwahati and IIT Patna; a high‑data‑rate line‑of‑sight link was demonstrated at India Mobile Congress 2025. India has contributed to the ITU’s IMT‑2030 (6G) framework and, through the TDIP scheme, supports Indian stakeholders’ participation in 3GPP, ITU and oneM2M, with financial aid for memberships, meetings and pilot testing for startups and MSMEs.
