Government Approves 2 Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) in Tamil Nadu at Manallur (474.3 Acres) & Pillapaikkam (379.3 Acres); Projects worth ₹1,012 Cr to Boost Electronics Manufacturing
The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced approval of two Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMCs) in Tamil Nadu – Manallur (474.3 acres, project cost ₹587.47 cr) and Pillapaikkam (379.3 acres, project cost ₹424.55 cr) – totalling ₹1,012 cr to boost electronics manufacturing. The release highlights India’s growth in electronics, noting a rise from ~₹1.9 Lakh cr (2014‑15) to ~₹13.11 Lakh cr (2025‑26) in production and a 99.2 % domestic mobile‑phone manufacturing share. It also outlines related initiatives: the Semicon India Programme (12 projects, ₹1.64 lakh cr), semiconductor design support (24 projects, 105 startups), and talent development in 315 institutes, including 61 in Tamil Nadu. The government has approved two AI Centres of Excellence in the state.
