Cooperative societies in Maharashtra
The National Cooperative Database records 2,27,177 cooperative societies in Maharashtra as of 15 July 2026. The Central Sector project for computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), launched in 2022, has been expanded to 79,630 PACS with a revised outlay of ₹2,925.39 crore, and Maharashtra has received ₹29.14 crore in assistance (₹9.14 crore in FY 2025‑26 and ₹20.00 crore in FY 2026‑27). The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) has cumulatively disbursed ₹34,161.54 crore for Maharashtra’s cooperative sector up to 30 June 2026. The Ministry of Cooperation highlights several initiatives, including model bye‑laws for PACS, the ‘Co‑operative‑led White Revolution 2.0’, income‑tax relief for sugar mills, and financial support for ethanol and cogeneration projects.
