Status of Bharat Taxi

The Ministry of Cooperation reports that Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited (STCL), registered under the Multi‑State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002, was set up on 6 June 2025 and launched on 5 February 2026. STCL runs the Bharat Taxi platform on a zero‑commission, cooperative‑owner model where drivers (Sarathis) become members, sit on the Board of Management and share surplus. As of the release, 7.76 lakh Sarathis and 40.84 lakh customers have been verified and registered respectively, with operations presently in Delhi‑NCR and Gujarat. The rollout is phased, dependent on operational readiness and state coordination. Bharat Taxi is distinct from West Bengal’s Yatri Sathi, which is a state‑run aggregator platform.
