Strengthening of cooperative institutions in Punjab

The Ministry of Cooperation reports that under the Central Sponsored Project for Computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), 3,482 PACS in Punjab have been sanctioned, of which 3,454 are already on ERP software. The Government of India has released ₹33.94 crore to Punjab (₹7.42 crore for FY 2025‑26 and ₹1.00 crore for FY 2026‑27). Under White Revolution 2.0, 1,027 new dairy cooperative societies have been registered and 951 existing ones strengthened. For the grain‑storage scheme, 30 PACS/cooperatives with 2.84 lakh MT capacity have been identified, though godown construction is pending. Model bye‑laws for PACS, aimed at broader inclusion of women and SC/ST members, were issued on 05‑01‑2023 and adopted by Punjab.
