Indian Navy commissions indigenous warship INS Malvan at Karwar

On 22 July 2026, the Indian Navy commissioned INS Malvan, the second indigenously designed and built Mahe‑class Anti‑Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft, at Karwar. The ceremony was presided over by Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, who highlighted the ship’s over 80 percent indigenous content and its role in strengthening anti‑submarine warfare capability under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The warship is designed to operate with larger surface combatants, submarines and aviation assets, enhancing operational readiness and maritime security.
