Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has put in place well-defined mechanisms to ensure timely collection and publication of official statistics

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has instituted several mechanisms to accelerate the collection and release of official statistics. Primary data for National Sample Surveys are now gathered via digital platforms such as Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) and the e‑SIGMA system, which include validation checks, real‑time monitoring, AI‑enabled chat‑bots and multilingual interfaces. These tools have cut the lag between survey completion and data release from 8‑9 months to 45‑90 days, with annual, quarterly and monthly results now issued within 90‑120, 45‑60 and 15‑30 days respectively. Price data for the Consumer Price Index, National Accounts Statistics and the Index of Industrial Production are also collected and validated using similar digital and procedural safeguards. Timely dissemination is further ensured through an Advance Release Calendar on the Ministry’s website, while anonymised unit‑level data are accessible via a revamped Microdata Portal. MoSPI also engages stakeholders through conferences, workshops and digital platforms such as the GoIStats app and e‑Sankhyiki portal.
