Team India wins 2 Gold and 4 Silver Medals at 67th International Mathematical Olympiad 2026

The Indian team of six contestants secured 2 Gold and 4 Silver medals at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2026 in Shanghai, achieving an unofficial country rank of 7th among 117 nations. This marks the fourth occasion India has finished 7th, matching its performances in 1998, 2001 and 2025, and the fourth consecutive year India is in the top‑10. Since its debut in 1989, India has accumulated 25 Gold, 80 Silver and 80 Bronze medals, plus 29 Honourable Mentions. The medalists were Aarav Gupta and Abel George Mathew (Gold) and Bairav Murugan, Kanav Talwar, Sanjana Philo Chacko and Shreya Shantanu Mundhada (Silver). HBCSE congratulated the team, noting support from the Chennai Mathematical Institute, NBHM (DAE) and the Ministry of Education.
