FRAMEWORK FOR INDICES

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is the nodal ministry for monitoring the National Indicator Framework (NIF) for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It compiles key macro‑economic indices such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). MoSPI also conducts regular household surveys covering labour force, social consumption, health and education, generating data that feed into SDG indicators on health, education, gender equality and environmental sustainability. These statistics are used for evidence‑based policy formulation and to assess progress on citizens’ well‑being.
