Apprenticeship Training Under Naps

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship reports that the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), launched in 2016 and continued as NAPS‑2 from 2022‑23, has engaged 47,50,432 apprentices across more than 45 sectors up to 30 June 2026. The scheme provides a partial stipend (up to Rs 1,500 per month) via Direct Benefit Transfer, encouraging participation of MSMEs and other establishments. In Andhra Pradesh, 825 MSMEs and 445 other establishments have engaged apprentices, with a government stipend share of Rs 21.88 crore and Rs 32.80 crore respectively. The scheme also supports trades linked to the coastal economy and is promoted through Pradhan Mantri National Apprenticeship Melas (PMNAMs).
