TEXT OF THE OPENING REMARKS MADE IN THE HOUSE TODAY BY SHRI C. P. RADHAKRISHNAN, HON'BLE CHAIRMAN, RAJYA SABHA

In the opening of the 271st Session of the Rajya Sabha on 20 July 2026, Chairman Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan welcomed the new members and highlighted that the Session will have 19 sittings. He announced the introduction of live AI‑based simultaneous interpretation of the proceedings in nine languages via multi‑media devices at members’ seats, with a plan to extend the service to all twenty‑two scheduled languages. The Chairman urged members to maintain decorum, focus on timely disposal of business, and provide feedback on the new interpretation facility.
