Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurates the first phase of the 'Museum of Word' in Kolkata

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the first phase of the ‘Museum of Word’ in Kolkata on 19 July 2026, attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Finance Minister Shri Swapan Dasgupta and senior officials. The museum aims to showcase the evolution of Indian languages—from the sacred Omkar to modern AI—through visual, auditory and immersive displays, preserving multilingual heritage, manuscripts, inscriptions and printed books. The Minister highlighted the need to digitise and AI‑enable all Indian languages, promote language learning in families and schools, and use museums and libraries for youth outreach. The launch aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a cultural renaissance and a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
