National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Reviews Sanitation and Welfare Facilities
The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) held a high‑level meeting at the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to review sanitation workers’ conditions. Chaired by NCSK member Shri Karam Singh Karma, the meeting included the NDMC Secretary, chief engineers, medical officers, union representatives and outsourced service providers. The commission emphasized achieving zero manual scavenging and accelerating mechanised cleaning operations. It directed the opening of a Temporary Muster Roll recruitment process, regularisation of 28 pending employees, and strict compliance with ESI and EPF records by contractors. The commission also mandated continuous monitoring to ensure statutory social‑security benefits for all outsourced sanitation staff.
