India established as a Serious Global Space Power with Vikram-1 Success; Dr. Jitendra Singh Says, the Historic Mission Vindicates PM Modi’s Landmark Space Reforms

The Department of Space announced that Vikram‑1, India's first privately developed orbital launch vehicle built by Skyroot Aerospace, successfully reached Low Earth Orbit from Sriharikota. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said the mission validates Prime Minister Modi’s 2020 reforms that opened the space sector to private participation and showcases the public‑private partnership among the Department of Space, ISRO, IN‑SPACe and the start‑up ecosystem. Vikram‑1, 22 m tall, can place up to 350 kg into orbit and incorporates indigenous technologies such as an all‑carbon‑composite structure and a 100 % 3D‑printed liquid engine. The launch is presented as a milestone for India’s commercial space market, now valued at about USD 9 billion with a target of USD 44 billion in ten years.
