APEDA Facilitates First Export of Premium Areko Cherries and Scentrose Plums from Jammu & Kashmir to Singapore

The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, organised a flag‑off ceremony on 16 July 2026 and facilitated the first export of premium Areko cherries (high‑density European sweet cherries) and Scentrose plums from Shopian and Pulwama districts of Jammu & Kashmir to Singapore. The consignment was harvested, graded, packed and shipped via a cold‑chain system complying with international food‑safety and phytosanitary standards. APEDA expects the move to give growers over 50 % higher returns, promote scientific cultivation and post‑harvest practices, reduce losses and create sustainable livelihoods, while diversifying India’s horticultural export markets.
