Op Sindoor demonstrated India’s world-class defence readiness sharpened by Govt’s ‘Nation First’ & ‘Forces First’ resolve: Raksha Mantri

Operation Sindoor was presented by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh as evidence of India’s enhanced defence readiness under the ‘Nation First’ and ‘Forces First’ agenda. The Minister highlighted that defence production reached about Rs 1.78 lakh crore in FY 2025‑26, with a target of Rs 2 lakh crore this year and Rs 3 lakh crore by 2029. Defence exports have risen to Rs 38,000 crore, aiming for Rs 50,000 crore by 2029. Procurement from start‑ups and MSMEs exceeds Rs 2,400 crore, with Rs 1,500 crore in new‑technology projects and 676 start‑ups engaged (551 contracts). The government proposes Rs 70,000 crore for defence corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, of which Rs 10,000 crore is already invested. Five positive indigenisation lists covering 509 items (defence forces) and five lists covering 5,012 items (DPSUs) have been issued.
