ECI Organises first All India Media Conference

The Election Commission of India held its first All India Media Conference 2026 on 17 July, convening more than 380 media professionals from across the States and Union Territories. The event, themed “Connecting stakeholders, strengthening democracy: Role of media in elections,” featured Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar addressing participants, underscoring that elections are conducted per the Constitution, Electoral Laws and ECI instructions, and are audited by stakeholders. He highlighted that the Electoral Rolls cover nearly 95 crore citizens and that over 12 lakh Booth Level Officers and 15 lakh Booth Level Agents act as concurrent auditors. The conference aimed to enhance understanding of electoral transparency, demonstrated roll preparation, polling and counting processes, and included a Q&A session with the CEC.
