Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Inaugurates Advanced Mother and Child Centre and Advanced Neurosciences Centre at PGIMER, Chandigarh

On 17 July 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Advanced Mother and Child Centre (300‑bed tertiary facility) and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre (300‑bed, ₹440 crore) at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and laid the foundation stone for a 150‑bed Critical Care Block under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM‑ABHIM). The event, attended by the Governor of Punjab, the Union Health Minister and other dignitaries, underscores the government’s drive to expand specialised healthcare infrastructure, strengthen emergency and intensive‑care capacity, and augment medical education with a new MBBS college at PGIMER.
