Office of Economic Adviser to Release Revised Index of Core Industries Series with Base Year 2022–23

The Office of Economic Adviser, DPIIT, will release a revised Index of Core Industries (ICI) series with base year 2022‑23 on 20 July 2026. The new series replaces the 2011‑12 base, includes a provisional ICI for June 2026 and a back‑series covering April 2023‑May 2026 (38 months), and expands the basket from eight to nine core industries by adding iron ore. Weights are derived from the IIP 2022‑23 weights and redistributed to total 100. The Steel Index now uses gross production data, and the Coal basket retains only raw coal to avoid double counting.
