Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu flags off inaugural flight from NAMO Airport, Daman

On 16 July 2026 Union Minister of Civil Aviation Shri Ram Mohan Naidu flagged off the inaugural Daman‑Delhi‑Daman flight from the newly operational NAMO Airport, Daman. The airport, envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was built on a 25‑acre site at a cost of ₹124 crore, with the Ministry of Civil Aviation reimbursing ₹88 crore. The 3,700 sq m terminal can handle 14 ATR flights daily and 3.67 lakh passengers annually. Operated by Alliance Air, the flight provides Daman’s first direct link to the national capital, reducing travel time to 2.5 hours. The project is linked to the UDAN scheme, which has an additional ₹29,000 crore outlay for 100 new airports and 200 helipads over the next ten years, aiming to boost regional industry, tourism and the blue‑economy of the Union Territory.
