Directorate General of Taxpayer Services organises seminar on GST in real estate and works contracts

On July 15, 2026, the Directorate General of Taxpayer Services (DGTS), Mumbai Zonal Unit, in partnership with CGST & Central Excise, Belapur Commissionerate, conducted a hybrid seminar‑cum‑webinar titled “GST in Real Estate and Works Contracts – Compliance Challenges, Practical Solutions & Recent Updates”. The event convened builders, developers, contractors, tax professionals, trade‑industry representatives and CBIC officers. Shri Sumit Kumar, Principal Additional Director General, DGTS, opened the programme, emphasizing the need to grasp evolving GST provisions. Shri R.L. Ramesh Ram, Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, underscored the role of awareness programmes in fostering voluntary compliance. A technical session by GST expert Shri Vivek Laddha covered real‑estate GST provisions, input tax credit, reverse charge, recent CBIC circulars and judicial decisions, followed by a Q&A session. The seminar reaffirmed DGTS’s commitment to taxpayer education and voluntary compliance.
