Border infrastructure to remain indispensable in future technology-driven warfare: Raksha Mantri at BRO Strategic Infrastructure Conclave

At the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Strategic Infrastructure Conclave in New Delhi on 16 July 2026, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said that despite advances in weapons, ports, airfields, roads and tunnels remain indispensable for future technology‑driven warfare. He highlighted BRO’s transformation over six‑and‑a‑half decades, citing projects such as the Atal Tunnel, Umling La Pass and Sela Tunnel, and stressed the role of niche technologies like tunnelling, digital planning and AI‑enabled solutions. The Minister linked connectivity to civilisational development, announced the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ for border villages, and launched digital platforms for project management and recruitment, underscoring a collective effort among industry, academia and administrators to build resilient strategic infrastructure.
