INDIAN NAVY SET TO COMMISSION THE LATEST ASW SHALLOW WATER CRAFT MALVAN

The Indian Navy will commission the second Mahe‑class Anti‑Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW‑SWC) named Malvan on 22 July 2026. The ceremony will be led by Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, with Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding‑in‑Chief Western Naval Command, in attendance. Built at Cochin Shipyard Limited, the vessel has over 80 percent indigenous content, underscoring the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision in naval shipbuilding and design. The craft is intended for agile, precise operations in shallow waters, enhancing India’s anti‑submarine capabilities.
