TRAI Assesses Mobile Network Quality Across Kasaragod District, Kerala LSA

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released results of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted across Kasaragod District, Kerala LSA during 5‑8 May 2026. The test covered city drives (414.2 km), hotspots, walk tests (6.5 km) and coastal routes (10 km) to assess real‑time mobile network quality for all Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) on 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G. Key QoS parameters measured were coverage gap, call drop rate, call‑setup success rate, call silence instances, and data download/upload throughput. Findings show varying performance: Airtel recorded 1 dropped call out of 419 calls and an average download speed of 139.44 Mbps; BSNL had 18 dropped calls out of 402 and 10.73 Mbps download; RJIL reported no dropped calls and 294.88 Mbps download; VIL had 1 dropped call out of 421 and 18.85 Mbps download. Coverage gaps were highest for BSNL (3203 poor‑signal samples) and lowest for RJIL (1252). The detailed IDT report is available on the TRAI website.
