TRAI Assesses Mobile Network Quality Across Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka LSA
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released findings of an Independent Drive Test (IDT) carried out in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka LSA, during 18‑21 May 2026. The test evaluated real‑time mobile network quality for voice and data across 2G‑5G networks, covering city drives (440.5 km), hotspots, walk tests (8.7 km) and railway routes (761 km). Key QoS parameters measured were coverage gap, call‑setup success rate, drop‑call rate, call‑silence instances, and download/upload throughput. Results showed coverage gaps ranging from 5,104 to 7,089 poor‑signal samples among providers, dropped‑call ratios of 14/311 (Airtel) to 28/306 (BSNL), and average download speeds of 109.02 Mbps (Airtel) to 5.73 Mbps (BSNL). The detailed report is available on the TRAI website.
