Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (CCARI), Goa celebrates 98th ICAR Foundation Day

On 16 July 2026, ICAR‑Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR‑CCARI) in Goa marked the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. The event was attended by Shri Digambar Kamat, Minister for Public Works, Legal Metrology and Captain of Ports, Government of Goa, who urged youth to view agriculture as a business and highlighted ICAR’s role in improving small‑holder livelihoods. Senior officials cited ICAR’s contribution to turning India from a food‑deficit to a food‑surplus nation, noting that while the population grew 4.1 times in 75 years, food‑grain output rose 7.4 times due to improved varieties, modern technologies and research‑extension systems. The institute showcased climate‑resilient technologies, coastal ecosystem management, and farmer‑centric innovations, with over 200 farmers, including women, participating in the exhibition.
