Shivraj Singh Chouhan Unveils Bold Vision for Viksit Krishi and Prosperous Farmers to Realise Viksit Bharat 2047 at ICAR's 98th Foundation Day
On the 98th Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a roadmap for ‘Viksit Krishi and Samruddh Kisan’ under the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Key initiatives include developing 100 Climate‑Smart Villages, a ‘One Institute‑One Grand Innovation’ mandate for each ICAR institute, and ensuring ICAR technologies reach 100 million farmers. He proposed a two‑year “Mission ICAR‑100” to transform Krishi Vigyan Kendras into innovation and advisory hubs, launch an ICAR Open Digital Knowledge Platform for free mobile access to scientific advisories, strengthen laws against counterfeit seeds and pesticides, and generate ₹10,000 crore of internal resources by 2029. The event also saw the release of 43 new crop varieties, 17 technologies and 14 publications, and the regularisation of over 150 ICAR employees.
